Prehistoric Platycerium Fern Madagascariense

Prehistoric Platycerium Fern Madagascariense Is One Of The Rarest Platycerium Fern Species And This Epiphytic Fern Is Truly A Platyceriumnist Type Of Plant . This Platy. Fern Has A Natural Living Habitat , Of The Island Of Madagascar And Survives Within The Tropical Rain Forest's Western Side , Which Is Divided Into Three Layers And The Slopes Leading Up To The Top Are Very Steep . The Upper Layer Will Receive The Most Amount Of Rain Fall , With The Middle Layer Receiving Less And The Bottom Layer Receiving Very Little Or No Rain Fall . Prehistoric Platycerium Fern Madagascariense Can Be Found Living And Surviving , Within The Tropical Rain Forest's Middle Layer .

Within The Rain Forest's Middle Layer It Rains Quite Often , But This Rain Is In The Form Of A Light Misty Rain . When This Misty Rain Stops You End Up With Plenty Of Sun Shine And Humidity And Then The Misty Rains Will Begin Again . This Is Unlike The Upper Layer Where The Intervals Between The Misty Rains Are Shorter And Heavier .

Platycerium Fern Madagascariense Has A Very Special And Distinguishing Look To Itself By Having Waffle Like Shield Fronds And Fertile Fronds That Are Deeply Forked One Time , Which Are Very Wide In The Middle . There Is One Platy. Fern Cultivar , Platy. Fern Horne's Surprise , As Can Be Seen In This Image , Which Has This Same Waffle Shield Frond Features , But The Waffles And The Shield Fronds , On Platy. Fern Horne's Surprise , Are Much Larger .

The Fertile Fronds Of Prehistoric Platy. Fern Madagascariense Are Thick , Wide And Forked One Time . The Reason For This Thickness In Its Fertile Fronds Is Not Known , But Given Time The Botanist Will Find Out . The Fertile Fronds Are Completely Absent Of Stellate Hairs On Their Upper And Lower Surface And The Spore Patch , For This Platy. Fern , Is Located On The Fertile Fronds Lower Surface , About 3/4 Up The Frond Near Its Fork . The Species Spores Are Usually Mature , Ripe And Ready For Release Not Long After Developing .

Prehistoric Platy. Fern Madagascariense Produces Two Sets Of Fertile Fronds Per Year Usually In Early Spring And Late Summer . The Last Set , Of Fertile Fronds , Produced Will Last Through The Winter Season Until Early Spring When Another Set , Of Fronds , Will Be Produced To Take Their Place . During Late Summer Through Early Spring You Must Be Very Careful With The Amount Of Moisture Being Given To Platy. Fern Madagascariense , Because This Is The Toughest Period For Cultivating The Species Unless You Live , On The Island Of Madagascar .

The Shield Fronds , Of This Platy. Fern Species , Are Produced A Little Different . The Species Produces Shield Fronds Year Round , But They Are Not The Life Blood Of The Species Like The Fertile Fronds And Growing Bud Are . This Species As With All Platy. Fern Species Could Live , Survive And Grow Very Well Without Shield Fronds , But Not The Reverse .
